Workin’ on some new songs right now…Takin’ a break to check out the newest video from Josh Thompson, “Way Out Here”.  I reviewed one of his video’s last year and was surprised to see ANOTHER acoustic rendition of a song…again out on the street! ha.  He def has a theme going on with this album…beer drinkin and the blue-collar worker.  ;)  It’s easy to tell that Josh’s rough vocal interpretations and simplicity of the video come from his more traditional roots, David Allen Coe, Merle Haggard,  Johnny Cash.  I’m sure we’ll see more from this “outlaw country” guy real soon!  I give this video a 6!

Workin’ on routing today for the new Operation Troop Aid Tour with Cody McCarver and Sammy Sadler!  Dates are filling in quick for the summer!  Rehearsals the rest of this week… :)  Fun times!  Checkin’ out Marty Raybon ( whose face was plastered all over at CRS!!) and his video for “Daddy Phone”.  I thought I recognized this unique voice….former Lead singer of the award-winning group Shenandoah!!!  This touching song will def strike a nerve with a large part of the population…and the well-shot video completes the sad story!  I give this video a 7!

Monday’s make me tired!  I guess way too much basketball this weekend! ;)  It’s been a few months since I checked out Alan Jackson, so I thought I would give his video for “It’s Just That Way” a gander.  Another slow, overly simple song that Alan sounds great singing…and that I would have turned the radio dial on before the first chorus.  With that being said, I was intrigued enough by this video, directed by Roman White, to keep watching until the end…and then again!  I totally believe a  music video can either make or break a song.  In this one, I needed to know why everything was being reversed… and I got my answer in the end!  So ’til the next video, all is well with the world. ;)  I give this video a 7 and 1/2!

So I shoot my video next week…then u all will be able to review and critic me and let me know everything I did wrong!  For starters I should probably fast for the next 7 days….hmmm?  Probably not gonna happen! ;)  Checking out ‘Connor Christian & Southern Gothic and his video for “Sunday Suit”.  Featured January in CMT ‘s Pure “12 Pack Countdown”, this video looks like it was both hectic and fun to produce!  From reading Connor’s website, I saw he was still trying to collect wedding dresses the week before the shoot!  arrhhhggg…all the many hats of an independent artist!  We just want to PLAY!!! ;)  Although the song itself seemed to be a bit unfinished lyrically (maybe cause his voice sounded a little more rock to me?), the video had a great location and lots of quick shots…  I give this video 6!

Still workin…is it morning yet? heehee!  Checking out The Two Timers, a female duo from South Carolina, and their video for “Country Girl Diva”.  Featured on CMT’s “Can You Duet”,  Julia & Margaret look like they’re having a lot of fun shooting this video.  Although the song seemed to lack luster, lots of hair, interesting outfits, and a pink guitar kept me watching…I give the video a 5!

Home from the studio…how bout this weather! woowhoo!  Makes me happy.  Something else that makes me smile is American Idol…watchin’ the new season right now so thought I would check out last year contestant Danny Gokey and his new video for “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me”.  While one of  my favs during the show, I was a little disappointed in the song production…I remember him with a much stronger voice and the song really didn’t showcase that quality.  Could have just been the song…good message but I got a little lost and subsequently bored in what I thought was a chorus.  The video had a great theme going with post-it notes, good lighting, and TONS of quick shots…I wouldn’t want to have paid that editing bill! :)  I give the video a 6 and 1/2!

Back in the studio!  Takin’ a break…thought I’d drink some Hazelnut coffee and watch the sistas of Coldwater Jane in their video for “Bring On The Love”.  Lead singer Brandon has a “unique” voice that is very well complimented by the background vocals of her sister, Leah….Family groups always have such nice harmonies!!! mmmm.  :)  Although this song has a catchy tune and a good point, the melody and structure are all too familiar and simple…but even with the on-slot of female duos lately, this video has some great unique shots with the setting being California at the very impressive Salvation Mountain I give this video a 7.

Sittin’ at the studio right now gettin’ inspired!  Checkin’ out Canada native Sass Jordan and her video for “Why Did You”.  At first listen, I was thinking “this chica doesn’t sound real country”…so I checked out her quite impressive website.  As I suspected, she once was Billboard’s Best Female Rock Vocalist, and toured with music heavyweights including Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, Carlos Santana and Joe Cocker!!! Anywho… catchy tune with a creative, inexpensive video take on the song….although the toilet scene may be a bit risqué!  haha!  Speakin’ of el bano…way to much coffee today!  ;)  I give this video a 7!

How many of you have done this…ya get on the computer all ready to start your day returning emails, checking your social sites, paying bills, blah blah blah…then your eye catches an interesting story on MSN or ABC.com and before you know it you have spent the whole morning checkin’ out real life amazing stories!?? Anyone?  Now I am all updated on  millionaires, eagles, and Idols.  ;) 

NOW…I am checking out newcomer Georgia native Bill Gentry and his video “19″ that just premiered today on Yallwire.com!  Good voice (complimented with a great background vocal) with an emotional story to tell.  Perfectly feathered hair and a series of great camera shots keep me watching this video!  I must say… I did get goose bumps towards the end of the video when the wall of pictures lit up behind Mr. Gentry and his guitar.  WOW.  Having been part of an Armed Forces Tour and several Armed Forces Events, I have such a compassion for our Military men and women!  I give this video a 6!

So the sun is out!  I feel like my puppy trying to sit in the places that the sun is hitting just to get warm! :) mmmm… Yallwire is starting to get their CRS interviews up!  My Season III is kicken’ off this month too so get ready for even more fun!!  ;)  Watching Ryan Bingham now and his video for the theme song to the movie Crazy Heart titled “The Weary Kind”.   This video is pretty much what I predicted…Ryan’s raspy voice, in a  barely lit bar, highlighted with various  scenes from the movie.  I’m sure this haunting video is just a taste of  the gravity of the movie!  Can’t wait to check out Oscar nominee Jeff Bridges in this flick !  I give this video a 6!

Watching all kinds of videos today as I update and email the world!  :)  Checkin’ out Jason Aldean (it just played on GAC! ha!) and his video for “The Truth”.  Good, heartfelt song.  I have to like the video when it starts out with him putting a letter in the mail….I know another great video that also starts out that way!!  ;)   I was impressed with the whole storm shot!  What do you think…. the rain and lightening were all staged, or a storm actually came and almost blew Mr. Aldean off his lawn chair??  Either way it looked good!  I give this video a 7 and 1/2!

Patty Loveless’s video “Busted” takes me back to a time when you didn’t have to worry about Facebook, and Myspace, and Twitter, and Blogs, and everything else in between…..ahhhhmm.  Technology is driving me crazy… if you can’t tell!!  On the other hand the “Parlor” that this waitress character has stumbled into gives me the creeps!  You can’t tell me bending over like that to watch god knows what was comfortable! ha!  I give the director, Ryan Newman, an A for creativity, business and relativity to Patty’s bluegrass throwback….that definatly got the point across!!!  They’re BUSTED! ;)   I give this video a 7.

Well, another great CRS…why?  Because it took me a whole day of sleep to catch up! Ha!  One of the highlights was sittin’ down with the guys from Blackberry Smoke (and I promise to never get tongue-tied over their name again).  These guys were just a cool bunch of rockers to hang out with…not to mention hard working…around 200 shows last year!  Their video for  “Good One Comin’ On” is probably a pretty close testament of their real life on the road…stretching and all!  Whether you recall this song from Kevin Costner’s movie Swing Vote, or hearing it for the first time, it’s got all the elements of a great country song!  I give the video a 7 1/2!

I am a happy girl!!!  It’s almost Easter….and that means JellyBean time!  I got 4 bags of my favs tonight….SweetTart JellyBeans!  No need for sleep now!  ;)  Checking out  Texas-based musicians Josh Abbott Band and their video for “She’s Like Texas”!   Sweet song with a smooth delivery (sounds like Paul Simon to me??), describing his honey’s laugh, eyes, and… teeth?  Strange but still sweet.  ;)  I was surprisingly impressed by this independent artist’s very well shot and edited video!   The best part is during the last line when Josh looks towards his chica and smiles…awwwee!!!  I give this video a 7 and 1/2!

Just watched the new video for Carrie Underwood’s song “Temporary Home”.  This thought-provoking song, paired up with such a simplistic emotional video reminds us of what country music is all about!  Real life!!  Co-written by Ms. Underwood, this song is a definite departure from her somewhat  impersonal (but sexy :) singles of the past.  Great vocals and even a little  acting make this video worth a watch!  I give this video an 8!

I am exhausted!!!  Back in Cincy tonight where the snow is still piled high!  Met some great people today.  Before I hit the sack though, thought I would check out Bridgette Tatum and her video for “(I Like My) Cowboys Dirty”.  Of course I had to check it out for the name alone! ;)  The video had great action shots…although the rodeo theme is getting to be a bit overused!  But I think I may have seen Jessica Simpson in the mix???  Not to hip on the song itself, but Bridgette, along with her Root 49 Music label mate Danny Myrick, did co-write  one of my fav songs…..”She’s Country” performed by Mr. Aldean!  Woowhoo! I give this video a 6!

Will this winter ever end!! ;)  Thought I would get up and dance with Curb Recording artist
 Bomshell and their video for “19 & Crazy”!!!  Fun up-beat song with a video full of blowing blonde hair and backbends!  ;)  Love all the quick-moving shots and the live video clips show how these girls can rock!   This song actually reminds me a lot of my own song “Wild Girls”!  Hmmmm…how we love reminiscing about our wild and crazy younger days!  No tattoos here…but I did have a black camero!!!  Does that mean I was trouble? ;)  I give this video an 8!

Taking some time out from watching the Olympic Games to check out Houston County and their video (directed by one of my favs Trey Fanjoy) “I Can’t Make It Rain”.  Part of the independent label Stroudavarious, these guys (Zack, Adam, and John) have it all… good song with great harmonies!  And they play Taylor’s!  Even better!  :)  Awesome rain shots are just one of the highlights of this video!  I give it a 7!

Drowning in prep work!  I always need an assistant about this time of year…hmm?  Getting ready for CRS AND my new single to hit radio next month.  Got excited when I saw Burns & Poe’s new video on Yallwire.com this week!  I have a couple shows with them this summer….should be fun!  I’m all for chics that play bass and boys that play Taylors!  ;)  ”Don’t Get No Better Than This”, co-written by the former Trick Pony member Keith Burns, is a good, fun, summer song made interesting with the use of a green screen!  I give this video a 6!

Here comes the snow!  Or so they say! ;)  Going down the list of new videos on Yallwire.com right now and since I’d been there and had the t-shirt, thought I would check out WV natives The Simmons Brothers and their video for “Party Like A Rock Star”.  This video made the mediocre song look fun!  Some great quick shots in the beginning had me all excited, and even though the video seemed to fizzle towards the end, the twins kept my attention!  Just hopin’ nobody regrets it in the morning! ha!  I give the video a 7!

Checkin’ out Canadian artist Jessie Farrell and her video for “You Make Me Feel” today!   Nice fun summer video from this Universal Artist on a cold winter afternoon!  I wasn’t sure, but something about the way this video was shot made Jessie look like she was 10 feet tall!!!  I was looking for stilts! ha!  Overall a catchy tune with a great Merry-Go-Round shot…..the breakdown seemed a little weird for me…maybe it’s a Canadian thing? ;)  I give this video 7!

So who watched the Grammy’s last night?  Very interesting as always! :)  In keeping with the Grammy mindset, I thought I would check out Universal Republic’s artist Margaret Durante covering Kings Of Leon’s Grammy winner “Use Somebody”.   Durante…hmm?  Any famous relatives there Margaret?  Fabulous song and great shots makes this video worth a look.  Durante’s country twist to this pop song shows a well written song can connect to folks no matter what the genre!  I give this video a 7!

Waitin’ for the snow! ;) Checking out former Miss West Virgina Julia Burton and her video for “What A Woman Wants”.   Julia dishes it out straight up about what a woman really wants…especially from a man!  (Which I found to be a confusing part of the song, but I’ll give it a couple more listens!)  Anywho… this was a cute song accompanied by a well shot video emphasizing  a 6 foot tall beauty in every type of sexy scene imaginable.  Who even cares what it sounds like?  ;)  I give this video a 6!

Eatin’ pizza, checking out independent artist Jason Rogers and his video for “It Ain’t Braggin’”!   Here you have your standard bar scene:  a couple chicas, a pool table, and a band that’s ready to fight… WHAT??  Huh?  Or at least that’s what this Canadian artist is suggesting, I think!?  The lack of emotion in an otherwise sassy song leaves me a little confused.  But hey….he does have a nice bus! ;)  I give the video a 4!

Just watched el Presidente’s State of the Union Address…and about now I need to “Giddy On Up”, according to Mercury recording artist from Lexington, KY Laura Bell Bundy!  ;)  Another “Wow” for me…a lot of folks in their underwear in this one!  ha!  Though a little reminiscent of Miss Underwood’s last video, this humorous “Ol’ Western” shows off not only more body, but more acting and dancin’ (exactly what I would expect from a former Broadway actress)!  Not sayin’ that it’s all good and right for a  music video….but kept me entertained watching it the first time!  I give this video an 8!

Watched him move  up on the Music charts, so I thought I would check out Keni Thomas and his video for “Gunslinger”!  Man…this video looked dangerous!!!  I was expecting…(ok, hoping for!) one of those disclaimers at the end…”No animals or humans were hurt in the making of this video!!”  Didn’t happen though! :(  The video actually looked fun to make and kept my attention even though the song was a little hard to follow.  I especially loved all the gals in the band! :)  Now who’s ready for a little mutton bustin’!  haha!  I give this video an 8!

What a crazy weekend!! :)  Anyways, back to emails and phone calls today.  Thought I would check out a top 20 CMT video this week from Kellie Pickler, “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You”.   Wow…Ms. Pickler made me blush!  Sexy song, sexy outfits, and sexy poses basically wraps up this video!  Great shots (reminds me of Castle Cantania in Sicily), along with ”almost” sepia color washes give Kellie and this video a definite glow!!!  Beach scenes were a little Shania Twainish, but hey…it’s been at least 10 years, right?  ;)  I give this video an 7!

Happy Friday…. :)  While my manager works out the numbers, I’m watchn’ the boys from Texas Renegade and their video for “Crazy”.  Unfamiliar with these guys, I checked out the website (http://www.txrenegade.com) and was highly impressed with one of the band members…Camp!  ha.  (I like folks with a sense of humor… and pups! :)  But with that being said, I was a little disappointed in the music.  The performance overall was a bit pitchy and muddy.  The video, shot mostly in black and white, captured the idea of the song…but made the band also look “crazy”! ;)  I give the video a 5!

Takin’ a little trip into alt. country today and checkin’ out Georgia native  Tawny Ellis’s video for “Baby Your the One”.   Cute, traditional sounding country tune spiced up with Tawny’s sultry soulful voice gives this video a little bit of unique flare.  If you’re looking for something just left of country, this singer-songwriter might be right up your alley!  I give this video a 4 and 1/2!

Chopped my finger today…meant to chop the apple but missed! :(  Hope it doesn’t hinder my guitar skilz! haha!  ;)  Ok…thought I would watch the new Yallwire posted video by Trent Tomlinson, “Angels Like Her”.  This video is a heartfelt acoustic version of a very traditional sounding song:   just Trent, his Taylor, and a cigarette.  Vocals are a little rough for my taste, but fits well with the mood of the song.  I give the video a 6!

Checking out the Eli Young Band and their video for “Guinevere”!  Wow…must say how impressed I am with lead singer Mike Eli’s vocals…absolutely lovely!  The band as a group is not gonna win any beauty pageants, but this very Rascally Flats sounding ballad had plenty of heart and soul for any judge!  Good, fast video shots kept me watching, even though I wasn’t sold on the whole Guinevere saga!??) ha… I give the video a 7 and 1/2!

Catchin’ up on some follow-up calls today and thought I’d take a break and check out Texas native Brandon Rhyder on Yallwire.com with his video “Rock Angel”.  With a unique sound (not quite mainstream country…more R.E.M?), Brandon delivers a catchy tune with a couple good lines.  The video itself has a good thene, but the creepy guy always hanging around giving funny looks to the camera makes it more comedic than anything!  ;) I give this video a 5!

Watchin’ all the snow pile up outside while I tune in to Gary Allan and his video for “Today”!  Now I’m really depressed!!  Gary sings about losing everything he wanted the day his ex gets married!  Makes you never want to leave anything to tomorrow!  Get it all out now!!! NOW!  ;)  Live concert footage shot from a great venue makes this video majestic, but a little boring for my taste!  I give it a 6!

Just back from the studio and watchin’ Taylor Swift win yet another award, her first People’s Choice Award!  Country women taking over the world! haha!!  ;)  Thought I would stick with the female theme and check out The McClymonts video for “My Life Again”.  This trio made up of 3 sisters from Australia have a unique sound with an equally interesting fashion sense! ;)  Not sure if these gals are the next Dixie Chicks, but you can bet we’ll be hearing (and seeing!) a lot more of them in the future!  I give this video a 6!

Happy New Year!!!  2010 bring it on! ;)  Listening to the baritone voice of Mr. Josh Turner and one of his video’s for “Why Don’t We Just Dance”.  Cute catchy tune that had everyone dancing at a mall in Nashville last year!  Imitating his video on CMT, this one has random mall walkers from all genres of dance  suddenly getting down to his song in the middle of a mall on crowded afternoon… and then walking away when the song is over!  It’s pretty funny to see all the shoppers watch in amazement.  Wish I coud have been there….I could have joined in!!  I can do a mean electric slide! ;) I give this video an 8!

Anyone see the movie “The Blind Side”?  Great movie…I just watched the 20/20 Episode on the true story.  So inspiring!

Anyways, now I’m checking out Lyric Street artist Love and Theft and their video for “Don’t Wake Me”!  It’s like the Jonas Brothers but better AND country!  :)  Good lyrics put to shots from the road keep this video interesting.  I’m thinking that this all- gentleman trio should hook-up with my all-lady trio and take our show all over the world! ;)  haha…Any requests?  I give this video a 7!

Hope everyone is having a great Holiday Season!  I got to visit the fam, eat a lot, and open presents!!!   So needless to say I’m a pretty happy girl!  :)  Tonight in review is Phil Vassar and his video for “Everywhere I Go”!!   A very bitter-sweet song about love lost.  (That of which Phil always writes so beautifully!)  The video itself  has some great shots, although the acting is a bit to be desired.  One upside to the video is that Mr. Vassar gets to show off  his nicely sculpted biceps for all the chicas in the house!  ;)  I give this video a 7!

I think I’m suffering from a little too much holiday cheer right now :(, but before I hit the sack I’ll look at Josh Thompson and his video for “Won’t Be Lonely Long”.  For an artist on Sony BMG, I must say I was a little disappointed with not only the video, but the overall recording.  Maybe there is some big story and significant reason as to why a major record label released it this way (I’ll have my office continue their quest for knowledge in this matter), but I thought this song deserved more than a live acoustic performance and 1 camera shoot!  I give this video a 5!

Trying to get warm all day! :(  I think I got most of my Christmas cards out today(wheew!)…hope I haven’t forgot anyone!!  That’s always a bad feeling when you get a card or present from someone you forgot….oh well, things could be worse!  Checking out Yallwire tonight (my final Long Road to Nashville now up!!! ), I thought I would catch Nebraska native Hannah McNeil and her video for “What Am I Getting Up For?”  Wow!  I thought I had big hair!!  Hannah could give Dolly a run for her money with those blond locks!  With great song lyrics and catchy melody,  I was not surprised to find out one of the co-writers on the song was Nashville’s infamous Jeffrey Steele!  Great video for an independent artist as well!!!  I give the video a 7!

Snowing here!  BOOO….except on Christmas, then it’s okay! ;)  Tonight taking a look at Collin Ray and his video for “She’s With Me”,  a song about his disabled granddaughter.  That pure unmistakable voice singing such an intensely personal ballad, coupled by real-life home videos will bring even the strongest man to tears.  I can’t imagine the complexity of writing this song, much less sharing it with the pernickety public!  I give the video a 7!

Started my Christmas shopping today!!!  grrr…I thought I could get it all done in one day…BOY WAS I WRONG! :)  Anyways, while trying to wind down thought I would check out Matt Kennon and his video for “The Call”.  Now I’m wired AND sad!!! :(  I was surprised to see the award-winning music video director Trey Fanjoy working with an independent artist, but the video is top notch quality of course!  (Gives me hope ;)!!!)  Great song that really hits home this time of year especially…now if I can just get past that raspy gritty voice.  I give this video an 8!

Did I miss a day somewhere???  ahhh…Life on the road ;)  Mr. Rodney Atkins gives one of his best vocal performances in his video for “Invisibly Shaken”.  I personally think the background vocals add the perfect touch to Mr. Atkins southern drawl!  Great dramatic shots in this heartfelt ballad shows the “softer” side of Rodney!  I give this video an 8!

Not knowing much about the band Mustang Sally, I thought I would give ‘em a listen and check out their video for “C’mon DJ”!  Wow.  I am amused!  Interesting song…I think they were going for a sexy little diddy, but I didn’t know whether to laugh (because it had a donkey in it) or cry (because it was soo true)!!!  An all girl band always gets my approval though…despite the token male guitar player.  With a very “distinct” country twang and southern fashion sense, lead singer Tobi Lee from Indiana gives this video a little extra bonus!  ;)  I give this video a 7!

Thought I would check out an independent artist with a great name that has been at it for a while…Travis Rush and his video for “You’ll Find Your Way”.  Set to release his sophomore album next year, this Oregon resident and talented pianist has an interesting sound (no twang here!), coupled by some great song lyrics.  Beautiful  landscapes  make this video worth watching, but I would like to see the boy without the goatee!  (And yes…that’s how you spell goatee…I looked it up! haha!  ;)  I give this video a 7!

Thought I would check out the group Cracker and the video for their new single ”Friends” featuring Patterson Hood.  Not being real familiar with the band itself, (17 years and 8 albums- one platinum and three gold) my first impression was “well that guy sounds like Tom Petty”… but after further inspection I concluded it wasn’t.  ;)  Hilarious, fun, sing-along song that talks about the “disadvantages” of being a good ol’ friend, amongst other things!  The video itself is amazingly simple filmed in  black and white.  I have always said black and white makes ANYONE look good!  ;)  I give this video a 4.

In the tradition of Taylor Swift’s “Tim McGraw”, Tennessee native and Curb Records artist Tyler Dean has released his own version titled, “Taylor Swift.  Simply staged, Tyler performs for his video in solitary with only his band mates on the large screens behind him…not to mention in a sophisticated “tailored” suit that looks hardly the get-up of a crazed teenage fan!  I personally would have liked to see some long close-ups of the boy….what does he have to hide???  NOT wrinkles! ;)  The song overall is a bit cutesy for my taste, but the predictability of song may wear on most listeners???  I give this video a 5!

I can’t believe that I have not reviewed this guy yet, Capitol Records artist Mr. Trace Adkins, let alone his video for ”All I Ask For Anymore”.   Through with thinking just about himself, Trace has decided to focus on things that really matter in life.  Great suspense in this video…I had to keep watching to figure out what was going on!  And then it all came together!  (I’m not telling…watch it for yourself!!! ;)  Good song, delivered in that unique Trace form.  I give this video an 8!

Today I’m watching one of country musics biggest divas….Reba McEntire in her video for “Consider Me Gone”!  Another great video directed by the amazing Trey Fanjoy.  Not sure, maybe it’s my mood this week, but this one had me in tears…I’m always a sucker for a happy ending!  :)Then how Reba’s character was weaved into the story!  How clever!!!  To top it off she hits that high note in the line “not the arrow to the heart of you”!  AMAZING!  Ok…if you can’t tell I’m a huge fan!  I give this video a 9!

I am soo excited to talk about McGuffey Lane and their live video for “Long Time Lovin’ You”!  Shot back in Columbus Ohio where it all began, this reunion video has everyone in it (including the camera man! ha)!  New and past members from the band makes this McGuffey classic a must see.  This video is def a walk down memory Lane and has me thinkin’ of the timeless tunes of Marshall Tucker, Pure Prairie League, and others!  John and the band continue to tour the mid-west and rock the house.  I have even had the privilege of being part of the show!!  In order to be impartial….this video remains unrated! ;) But I like it!

Beautiful sunny day in Cincy so I thought I would take on a little Kenny Chesney and his video featuring Dave Matthews “I’m Alive”.  I must start by saying that when this video first started playing on Yallwire, my speakers were not plugged in and it took me a little time to figure out the problem.  Never hearing this song before, I watched the video expecting an upbeat, rockin’ calypso sounding tune…..WOW was I way off!  From all the live footage,  Kenny looked like he was having a great time celebrating life, but watching it again there are a lot of solitary quiet moments too.  I give this one a 6.

 The winners of CMT’s “Can You Duet” Steel Magnolia,  keep the competition at bay with their uplifting video “Keep On Loving You”.  Staged in a karaoke bar, not to far fetched from their real life experience, the duo finds their way to the stage to make sweet music.  Although the vocals work well together, not quite sold on “their look” as a duo…..YET!  Videos fun but predictable….I give it a 5!

Today I’m looking at one of my favorite performers, Sugarland, and their video for “Keep You”. This video, like so many others over this past year has kept it simple. Featuring the artists in such an intimate setting lets the audience really focus on the vocals and what the song means. Jennifer delivers this emotionally charged ballad with such heartache and turmoil ya got to wonder what this poor gal has gotten herself into THIS time!!! I give this video a 7!

Loonng Monday!  Today I watched the very emotional video “An Old Friend of Mine” by Joe Nichols.  It’s so hard saying goodbye…no matter what or who it is, but with the intensity of George Jones, Joe delivers a heart-wrenching in your face confession that can only be given from real life experience.  I’m happy to say I think ol’ Joe is back!  I give this video a 7!

Come on out to the show tonight in Chillicothe, OH!  Pure Prairie League and me for 2 nights!  Friday and Saturday!!!  Doors open @ 6pm!  Ok…now for serious buisiness….Carrie Underwood “Cowboy Casanova”!  Our #1 pop-country diva does not disappoint with this one!  After several costume changes she obviously is trying to bring sexy back….although her dance moves are no Timberlake’s, this sleek, high-budget, sexy video does keep you interested!  I give it an 8!

Better late than never…right??? ;)  Loooong day…travel,  meetings, and rehearsals!!!  Getting ready for Pure Prairie League…great bunch!!!  I wanted to laugh a little (not too hard when your exhausted though), so I thought I would watch Toby Keith’s video “American Ride”.  It wasn’t sooo much me laughing as me gasping and thinking….”did he say what I thought he just did???”  Ha!  Only Toby can say what he REALLY thinks out loud and get away with it……I guess putting it to music makes it a little easier to swallow!   Never a dull moment in this video….I like it….it’s a 9!  (Of course…he wasn’t making fun of me….YET! ;)

Another rainy day here in Cincy….imagine that! At least it’s not snow..YET! Today we are looking at the video “Love Lives On” by new MCA Nashville artist from Georgia, Mallary Hope. Co-written by Mallary, this tear-jerker about losing a spouse is beautifully sung, but left me wanting more after watching the video. Maybe it’s the fact I can’t figure out who she looks like and it’s killing me!!! I have sat here for an hour and I can NOT figure it out. Someone help me please!!! Although the video is touching, seems that Mallary is still trying to find her own vocal style that would separate her from anything Nashville already has! Seen it, heard it a thousand times…I give the video a 5!

In this video Dierks plays the good ol’ bad boy!  Shot entirely of  live concert footage of one of the hardest workin’ entertainers in country music (which I witnessed first hand when I opened the show for him in New York!).  Dierks shows everyone a great time getting  ”Sideways” not only from the stage, but tailgating with fans before the big show!  This video is obviously contagious….it has me wishin’ for the weekend…and it’s only Tuesday!  Definitely a video to help get ya thru the mid-week blahs!  I give this video an 8!

Today we are looking at Chris Young’s video “Gettin’ You Home”. This Nashville Star from Tennessee has a sultry country voice that wouldn’t have to ask me twice! ;) Cute video….a little “stalkerish” with him standing and singing to the door that his honey is behind… but I guess she doesn’t mind :) He finally gets what’s behind door number one…a Courtney Cox look-a-like! Go Cougars!!! This video comes in at a 6!

We gots Black Stone Cherry on the blog today with “Things My Father Said”!  Great song!  Touched MY heart!  Typical 80′s rock ballad…how could you not love that! ;)  This video introduces the band on a very down to earth level…just the boys next door!  Nothin’ fancy!  Heartfelt moments of  daddys missed….intertwined with touching lyrics brings this video in at about a 5 1/2!

Checkin’ out Trailer Choir today “Rockin’ The Beer Gut”!  What a fun video!  Great concept, hilarious cast of characters, and everyone’s having a good time!  Butter, Big Vinny, and Crystal are true entertainers!  I’ve had the chance to hang out with these guys both on and off the stage and they really do like to have fun!  “Really!”  :)  If your in for a smile, a chuckle, and need to get away for 5 minutes be sure to check this video out!!!  For a good time had by all I give this vid a 9!

Today I’m talking ’bout Alan Jackson and how “I Still Like Bologna”!  Nothing but the word “cute” could describe this video!  While Alan does what he does best…stand there and strum his guitar every now n then, the kids (mostly his own!) absolutely steal the show in this one!  Pretty good, but typical, little 2-steppin’ song talkin’ about the headaches of today’s modern technologies, but finding timeless comfort in a women’s love and bologna sandwiches.  Do people still even eat bologna? ha!  I give this video an 8 1/2 for cuteness!!!  Watch it all the way to the end!!! :)

Today I watched Miley Cyrus (Did you know her birth name was Destiny Hope?) in her new video ”Party In The U.S.A.”!!!   Far from her Disney “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” days, this video is fun-fun-fun and full of sexy dancin’ country “like” chicas… So where does the line stop between country and pop….cause I am sooo confused!  Sure she’s got her fancy cowboy boots on but this is def a dance club anthem, not your honky-tonk 2 stepper! ;)  Which is all good and fine unless you’re expecting this Nashville native songbird to be more than a pop-rock rocker!  I give the video a 7 for fun…no matter what your genre preference!

Mondays’ suck! :(  Anyways…recovering from a great weekend of shows in Ohio and West Virgina!  Today’s spotlight is on one of country musics biggest independent breakout artists, Mr. Jason Aldean and his video for “Big Green Tractor”.  (Which I  might add came out on the same CDX CD as MY song “Perfect Angel”! yeeaaa!)  Ok…back to the video….borrrinng!  All ya get is Jason standing there like Dwight Yoakam, and although a little easier on the eyes…I still like to see some action now and then! ;)  The video’s over and I’m still waiting to see the John Deere!  Don’t bother bringing the popcorn to this one…I give it about a 3 1/2!
