Today in Review: Josh Thompson~”Way Out Here”

Hey Guys!

Workin’ on some new songs right now…Takin’ a break to check out the newest video from Josh Thompson, “Way Out Here”.  I reviewed one of his video’s last year and was surprised to see ANOTHER acoustic rendition of a song…again out on the street! ha.  He def has a theme going on with this album…beer drinkin and the blue-collar worker.  ;)  It’s easy to tell that Josh’s rough vocal interpretations and simplicity of the video come from his more traditional roots, David Allen Coe, Merle Haggard,  Johnny Cash.  I’m sure we’ll see more from this “outlaw country” guy real soon!  I give this video a 6!

Today in Review: Marty Raybon~”Daddy Phone”

Hey Ya’ll!

Workin’ on routing today for the new Operation Troop Aid Tour with Cody McCarver and Sammy Sadler!  Dates are filling in quick for the summer!  Rehearsals the rest of this week… :)  Fun times!  Checkin’ out Marty Raybon ( whose face was plastered all over at CRS!!) and his video for “Daddy Phone”.  I thought I recognized this unique voice….former Lead singer of the award-winning group Shenandoah!!!  This touching song will def strike a nerve with a large part of the population…and the well-shot video completes the sad story!  I give this video a 7!

Today in Review: Alan Jackson~”It’s Just That Way”

Hey Ya’ll!!!

Monday’s make me tired!  I guess way too much basketball this weekend! ;)  It’s been a few months since I checked out Alan Jackson, so I thought I would give his video for “It’s Just That Way” a gander.  Another slow, overly simple song that Alan sounds great singing…and that I would have turned the radio dial on before the first chorus.  With that being said, I was intrigued enough by this video, directed by Roman White, to keep watching until the end…and then again!  I totally believe a  music video can either make or break a song.  In this one, I needed to know why everything was being reversed… and I got my answer in the end!  So ’til the next video, all is well with the world. ;)  I give this video a 7 and 1/2!

Today in Review: Connor Christian & Southern Gothic~”Sunday Suit”

Hey Ya’ll!

So I shoot my video next week…then u all will be able to review and critic me and let me know everything I did wrong!  For starters I should probably fast for the next 7 days….hmmm?  Probably not gonna happen! ;)  Checking out ‘Connor Christian & Southern Gothic and his video for “Sunday Suit”.  Featured January in CMT ‘s Pure “12 Pack Countdown”, this video looks like it was both hectic and fun to produce!  From reading Connor’s website, I saw he was still trying to collect wedding dresses the week before the shoot!  arrhhhggg…all the many hats of an independent artist!  We just want to PLAY!!! ;)  Although the song itself seemed to be a bit unfinished lyrically (maybe cause his voice sounded a little more rock to me?), the video had a great location and lots of quick shots…  I give this video 6!

Today in Review: The Two Timers~”Country Girl Diva”

Hey Ya’ll!!!

Still workin…is it morning yet? heehee!  Checking out The Two Timers, a female duo from South Carolina, and their video for “Country Girl Diva”.  Featured on CMT’s “Can You Duet”,  Julia & Margaret look like they’re having a lot of fun shooting this video.  Although the song seemed to lack luster, lots of hair, interesting outfits, and a pink guitar kept me watching…I give the video a 5!

Today in Review: Danny Gokey~”My Best Days Are Ahead of Me”

Hey Ya’ll!!!

Home from the studio…how bout this weather! woowhoo!  Makes me happy.  Something else that makes me smile is American Idol…watchin’ the new season right now so thought I would check out last year contestant Danny Gokey and his new video for “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me”.  While one of  my favs during the show, I was a little disappointed in the song production…I remember him with a much stronger voice and the song really didn’t showcase that quality.  Could have just been the song…good message but I got a little lost and subsequently bored in what I thought was a chorus.  The video had a great theme going with post-it notes, good lighting, and TONS of quick shots…I wouldn’t want to have paid that editing bill! :)  I give the video a 6 and 1/2!

Today in Review: Coldwater Jane~”Bring On The Love”

Hey Ya’ll!!!

Back in the studio!  Takin’ a break…thought I’d drink some Hazelnut coffee and watch the sistas of Coldwater Jane in their video for “Bring On The Love”.  Lead singer Brandon has a “unique” voice that is very well complimented by the background vocals of her sister, Leah….Family groups always have such nice harmonies!!! mmmm.  :)  Although this song has a catchy tune and a good point, the melody and structure are all too familiar and simple…but even with the on-slot of female duos lately, this video has some great unique shots with the setting being California at the very impressive Salvation Mountain I give this video a 7.

Today in Review: Sass Jordan~”Why Did You”

Hey Ya’ll!

Sittin’ at the studio right now gettin’ inspired!  Checkin’ out Canada native Sass Jordan and her video for “Why Did You”.  At first listen, I was thinking “this chica doesn’t sound real country”…so I checked out her quite impressive website.  As I suspected, she once was Billboard’s Best Female Rock Vocalist, and toured with music heavyweights including Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, Carlos Santana and Joe Cocker!!! Anywho… catchy tune with a creative, inexpensive video take on the song….although the toilet scene may be a bit risqué!  haha!  Speakin’ of el bano…way to much coffee today!  ;)  I give this video a 7!

Today in Review: Bill Gentry~”19″

Hey Ya’ll!!!

How many of you have done this…ya get on the computer all ready to start your day returning emails, checking your social sites, paying bills, blah blah blah…then your eye catches an interesting story on MSN or ABC.com and before you know it you have spent the whole morning checkin’ out real life amazing stories!?? Anyone?  Now I am all updated on  millionaires, eagles, and Idols.  ;) 

NOW…I am checking out newcomer Georgia native Bill Gentry and his video “19″ that just premiered today on Yallwire.com!  Good voice (complimented with a great background vocal) with an emotional story to tell.  Perfectly feathered hair and a series of great camera shots keep me watching this video!  I must say… I did get goose bumps towards the end of the video when the wall of pictures lit up behind Mr. Gentry and his guitar.  WOW.  Having been part of an Armed Forces Tour and several Armed Forces Events, I have such a compassion for our Military men and women!  I give this video a 6!
